Every Thursday is #thriftythursday, a day on which I do an upcycling DIY, showing you how to get more mileage out of your old “junk”. In line with today’s theme, I thought it’d be nice to do a round-up of the Best 3 up cycling DIYs out in cyberspace πŸ™‚ Hope you like them as much as I do πŸ™‚

the3rsblog: cork board

I’ve always wondered what I should do with the cork from a wine bottle after finishing the wine – the recyclaholic in me felt it was such a waste to ditch it- and now I’ve found the answer! Glue them together to form a huge cork board! This is not only a really cool way to re-use old corks, it also enables you to customise the size of your cork board- it’s actually quite difficult to get big ones (unless you want to stick individual cork sheets together- and it’s also a trip down memory lane when you look at all the different vintages πŸ™‚

Slight glitch- you’re going to need to drink a lot of wine to get so many corks! Luckily for me, I have my wine-loving buddy, T, to help me polish all this off. We’ll get started when I go over to babysit her dog, B, on Monday πŸ™‚ Photo credit and full tutorial on:Β https://the3rsblog.wordpress.com/2013/01/03/getting-organized-a-new-old-cork-board/

Sealoquesea: lace scarf

Inspired by a $1100 scarf, this DIY is a great way to glam up old shawls. I definitely agree with Jen that trimming the lace along the pattern (instead of just applying it on with a straight edge) is what changes the look from “Target” to “Anthropologie” (not that there’s anything wrong with Target πŸ™‚ )

Just a Girl and Her Blog

I thought we’d start with a Β really simple DIY- but it still looks amazing, doesn’t it? Simple to make and simple as I’m sure we all have old jars lying about our house! Photo credit and full tutorial on:Β http://justagirlandherblog.com/simple-painted-glass-jars/
