I love Balmain but boy is it pricey. This cuff cost $2380 (and is no longer in production anyway)- my DIY version costs less than $23.80, so less than 1% πŸ˜› A good deal, don’t you think?

What you need:

  • gold leather cord
  • magnetic clasp bar
  • scissors
  • Gold sharpie (if your clasp is not already gold)
  • Glue (Trying Z-poxy as broken up with E6000)

Note: if you want it to look identical to the Balmain piece, string together gold disk beads instead to get the striated effect. I chose to go with leather because it saves a lot of time and looks close enough for me πŸ™‚

Time: 5 minutes

Difficulty level: Super Easy

Step 1:Β

Measure the length of your wrist and the length of the clasp. Cut a piece of leather the 2-3 cm longer thanΒ your wrist but minus the length of the cord. (This is because some of the cord will be “hidden” in the clasp when it is glued in so you need the extra 2-3 cm)

Cut 4 more cords of the same length

Step 2:

Glue the cords into the clasp as shown above and you will get the following. Leave to dry

Step 3

Colour the clasp using the Sharpie.

Note: If I redid this, I would colour the clasp BEFORE gluing the leather in- this is to make sure you don’t accidentally colour the leather as well!

What do you think? Ready for London Fashion Week? πŸ™‚
