I was so excited when CT Magazine asked me to do a DIY tutorial for them some weeks back. This is the piece I ended up making and wearing to Bloggers London Fashion Week! 🙂
What you need:
- 8-11 silver rock beads (depending on your wrist size)
- 2 x Silver chain (at least 2 times the diameter of your wrist)
- 2 x oxidized silver chain (again 2 times your wrist)
- 2 x coppery silver chain (again 2 times your wrist)
- magnetic clasp
- 2 silver crimps
- tigertail wire
- pliers & wire cutters
Cut a piece of tiger tail 2 times the length of your wrist- this will be a little more than you need but as the rocks are so thick, it’s better to have more wire than less!
Slide a crimp onto the string followed by 1 end of the magnetic clasp then slide the wire back into the crimp as shown above. Make sure the crimp is close below the clasp then flatten with your pliers
Slide the ends of all 5 wires onto the string followed by 1 rock.
Insert the tigertail wire back into the chains. Vary the point at which the wire is inserted back into each chain so that the bracelet is more free flowing.
Repeat steps 2 & 3 (i.e. slide another rock onto the wire, followed by the chain agin…) until you’ve used up all your rocks.
Thread another crimp onto the wire, followed by the other end of the magnetic clasp. As in Step 1, loop the wire back into the crimp, tighten and flatten. At this point, you should have some chains hanging from the end of the bracelet- if they are too long, use your wire cutters to trim them accordingly. I suggest leaving chains of various lengths hanging for effect.
