Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Cottonseed (for Normal or Combination skin) (£19.50 for 125 ml)
Clarins was the very 1st skincare brand I used. I was 11 when my Mom came home with some of their Gentle Foaming Cleanser for me – she liked how they were very plant based- & I used it for many years before moving on.
Recently, someone gifted me with a bottle so I decided to give it a go again for old times sake. I don’t know if it’s because my skin has changed or because I didn’t know better back then but I do not like it at all now. It leaves my skin (combination, veering towards oily) feeling uber tight. Can’t imagine what it does for people with normal skin!
According to the product description, it’s specially formulated to combat the drying effect of hard water and is “as gentle as cleansing milk and as effective as soap”. Nope, not for me!
The other thing I don’t like about Clarins is their products are very specific in terms of usage. With this cleanser you are supposed to rinse with warm water in the morning and cool in the evening (or vice versa- too confusing!). It’s not just this product though- for their Body Lift Cellulite Control, you need to use certain motions to apply it. Too much hassle if you actually have things to do!
Weirdly enough, it seems to have a big following- it has 19 5-star reviews on Debenhams! I guess it’s not 1-size fits all, after all.
Would I use it again? No, not even if it’s free!
Instead, why not try…
Omorovicza Cleansing Foam (£44 for 150 ml)
Now this product I love! I held off buying it for ages because of the price- it’s twice as expensive as Clarins, but more than twice as good! 🙂 I normally ignore product descriptions as they’re usually euphemistic but I find this really does what it says: “deliver long-lasting hydration and suppleness” – my skin did not feel tight at all.
In addition, when paired with my Clarisonic, it removed all traces of my make-up, even eye make-up. A little time saved in my busy day 🙂 Even my Mom, who at 67, feels she is too old for a Foam Cleanser is a convert after trying this product!
Would I use it again? Yes- I’m on Bottle #2!
