I’m going to admit right off that I was initially a bit hesitant to use this mask. I had previously recommended NuSkin to one of my best friends, Tammy, who is in her 40s but still looks like she is in her 20s (when we go out, there are always guys in their 20s hitting on her), partly because of her awesome genes and partly because she takes such good care of her skin. So I usually don’t recommend any skincare products to her, because I figure they won’t be good enough, but when she tried the NuSkin marine mask, she loved it and raved about it on one of her blog posts. Definitely a product I want to try then!

When the lovely Dominique from NuSkin got in touch, I requested to try the same Epoch Marine Mask and she kindly sent one over, which I was really excited to receive. Unfortunately, it came with no instructions! Even the website just says “Apply over face and body.” Now you may think, duh how difficult can it be to use a face mask?! But after trying so many different skin products, and selling Korean skincare online for a while, I’ve realised that every now and then you will find the odd product that is a bit different, such as the Shiseido face mask sheet I used yesterday- which is used AFTER applying your face cream, not before! No wonder, the first few times I used it, there were no results!!! Or the Dr Sebagh mask which I had initially lazily kept on slightly longer than the stated time and left my skin feeling almost burned (but normally is ah-may-zing to use) So my first feedback to NuSkin would be, please do include some instructions, either with the product or on your website 🙂 Thank you 🙂

When in doubt, what do you do? I Google. And this is when I started feeling a bit hesitant about the mask- I read a review by someone else who didn’t react well to it (it broke her out). And if you have sensitive skin (like me) and have had a breakout in reaction to a beauty product in the past (like me again) which wouldn’t clear for months (again me), you become veeerrrrrry cautious about your skincare. After deliberating, I decided to bite the bullet but test it on my inner elbow first (where the skin is supposed to be very sensitive) 15 minutes later, I washed it off, and having had no reaction decided to be brave and try it on my face.

Here’s what the website says

“A simple and natural way to softer, smoother toned skin. Revitalising clay mask with sea botanicals draws out dirt and impurities from the skin. Contains extremely fine mud particles and leaves skin feeling fresh, renewed and healthy-looking. Suitable for all skin types.”

“Glacial Marine Mud – deposited in a remote estuary in British Columbia, this fine clay absorbs dead cells, excess oil and other impurities.”

Ingredients: Sea Clay Extract, Aqua, Carrageenan, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate,  Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid.

I like that the list of ingredients are so short! And there are no icky parabens!!

How to use the Nu Skin Epoch Glacial Marine Mask

Wash your face. If you have sensitive skin: leave your face wet and then apply the mask! (This is a tip direct from my contact at Nu Skin- thanks Dominique!) You will know how long to leave it on for because the mask changes in colour!! And you can feel it- when it changes to the lighter shade, shown below, it becomes tight, almost as if it’s a corset wrap around your face (Hmmm maybe there’ll be a firming effect?) When it’s entirely switched to the lighter shade, wash it off.

Note: I love l0ve love the texture of this mask, it’s much less drying to the touch than the usual clay/ marine mask but it can be a bit watery in bits.

So did it do anything for my skin?

You can see for yourself- before on top, after below:

Is it just me (no) or has the redness in my skin reduced noticeably?! And my skin has become a lot whiter too! This mask is firmly on the list of my favourites now!

To sum up:

  • The mask is amazing value for money! I love the Dr Sebagh Skin Perfecting Mask but it’s £42. This Nu Skin mask is only £25 and delivers the same benefits!
  • It leaves your skin less red and fairer
  • I would definitely buy it again!!

Any cons?

Not really but do note this isn’t a moisturising mask so don’t use it if your skin is feeling very dry. Also note it can be watery in parts so don’t spill it 🙂
