Thrift store DIY: What to do with vintage earrings if you can’t work with pliers

What’s your favourite social media platform? I love browsing IG and Pinterest the most, but I find Facebook the best for creating a community 🙂 (I read somewhere that Facebook is the social media platform of choice for older people, so I guess I’m officially old :P) I recently joined the FB group “DIY/craft bloggers monthly collaboration” – I do collaborations with other DIY bloggers but on a random basis, but it’s nice to be part of something regular and which has a group of us involved 🙂 Here are the links to all the posts of everyone participating in this project, do check them out! 🙂

DIY Blog Challenge – Thrift Store Upcycle

Thrift store cake stands #DIYBlogChallenge

For May 2017, 7 of us are showing how we upcycle something we got from a thrift store 🙂 I didn’t have time to pop down to the shops, but luckily, like any good crafter, I always have a stash of supplies on hand and I had a pile of jewelry I’d previously thrift-ed on hand. So today’s DIY is how to upcycle a pair of vintage earrings 🙂

The possibilities are really endless! But I didn’t want to do the usual- turn it into a necklace, a brooch, wall art or beautify a photo frame. So I had a little think, a little look around my house, and decided to use them to upcycle a pair of old shoes (or new shoes, since they’ve actually never been worn :P)

Best of all? They’re completely reversible and require NO DIY skills at all 🙂
What you need

Old pair of clip earrings

Pair of shoes

Step 1

Open the clip and clip it onto the front of the shoe. Do the same for the other side.

ou’ve just made yourself a new pair of shoes 🙂 If you get tired of it, just unclip the shoes! And try this shoe DIY instead (I show you how to fake the embroidered patch look in 5 minutes) Or here’s another no-tools required DIY to makeover old rings 🙂

PS If you’ve not gotten enough of vintage up cycles, here are some from round the Web that I really like: Homemade Banana’s necklace into bag DIY
