Note: in case it’s not clear from my post :P, the products in this review were provided by Nu Skin UK. Other than that, this is an entirely independent review
So, as you may (or may not) know, it’s been a while since I’ve attended the Nu Skin blogger event, which was lots of fun! (Post on the event to be posted once I’ve gotten the photos of it- mine just don’t do it justice )
The Nu Skin UK team was kind enough to share a few products with me and, since it’s summertime, they thoughtfully included a Bronzing Powder (They event remembered to include the brush too!) Awww… isn’t that sweet? Here’s what the website says about this product:
Hello healthy glow! Silky pearlised powder spheres combined in 5 different shades to give you a radiant, healthy, glowing complexion. (Ingredients at the bottom of the post if you’re interested) Benefits:
oxiguard™ – features antioxidants to protect from free-radical damage and promote healthy-looking skin.
appliglide™ – this is what makes Nu Colour cosmetics easy to apply. Specially designed powders provide superior textures and blendability, enabling the products to glide across your skin. A superior alternative to talc.
CONFESSION: I’ve never actually used bronzer before! So today was a first and I must say I’m very pleased with the Nu Colour Bronzing Pearls! The packaging is nothing fancy- very functional, a white container in a white box with gold-coloured letters.
I was a little apprehensive when I saw the pearls as they were pretty dark and I prefer a natural look. Amazingly, once applied, they worked really well with my skin tone. It was also super easy to apply- I just needed to sweep the brush lightly over the pearls and that was enough colour. According to the Nu Skin team, it’s the right mix of different coloured pearls in this product which enables it to be used on all skin tones (Random note: the pearls were really well packed though! There was a foam pad- shown in the right photo below- on top of them which prevented the powder bits from getting the lid dirty- I normally ditch all packaging upon opening my make-up but the box was so nice & clean I decided to keep it )
I’ve applied some onto my hand for you to get a look. In case it’s so natural that you can’t tell- it’s on the middle & bottom of my hand You can use it all over or just for highlighting so I took it slow and just used it on my cheeks I even tried a little highlighting by using it under my cheekbones. I thought it looked pretty good- a nice natural glow! AND it went really well with this babydoll pink blusher that I have (WHY did I buy that again??) and never use because it’s just too unnaturally bright!
Did it deliver? Yep!
Would I buy it? Another yes! FYI it’s $£25.58 on the Nu Skin site (sans brush) A little pricey but for a good product that I can use everyday- why not?
Any cons? This isn’t directly related to the Bronzing Pearls but I probably wouldn’t buy this brush. I’m no brush expert but I’ve met enough make-up artists who say that you should always get the professional brush sets so… Plus although it got the job done adequately, it felt a bit big. To be fair, it’s probably the right size for a bronzing brush but I was using it for highlighting… OK I stand corrected: it felt a bit big to be a highlighting brush
And, finally, here are the ingredients- I figure not everyone checks this (I don’t!) so I thought it’d be better placed at the end of the post
